Lucid Motors Inc. has signed an agreement that will allow buyers of its upcoming electric vehicles to use Volkswagen AG’s Electrify America charging network.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

The California-based startup aims to launch its first model, the upscale Air EV, in 2020. Lucid previously has said the base model will have a driving range of 240 miles per charge.

Electrify America plans to install more than 2,000 Level 2 charging stations (with power as high as 350-kW) at 500 locations across the U.S. by next June. The subsidiary was formed last year to manage the $2 billion that VW agreed to spend on EV charging stations and related programs as part of the settlement of its diesel emissions cheating case.
