Group Lotus plc says it will take the wraps off the all-new Type 130 electric hypercar in London in mid-July.

The vehicle, which had been codenamed Omega, will be Lotus’ first new production model since 2008. Lotus is developing the car in conjunction with U.K.-based Williams Engineering. Production will be limited to 130 units, which represents the number of “Type-badged” models Lotus has produced in its 71-year history.

Lotus says the Type 130 will be the brand’s most “dynamically accomplished” road car. The car’s electric motors are expected to generate more than 1,000 hp. Driving range is estimated at about 250 miles.

Built on a lightweight carbon fiber structure, the new model will be about the same size as the current 173-inch-long Evora sports car. But the Type 130 will sit lower to the ground, company officials tell Autocar.

The rear-mounted battery pack and pushrod-operated rear suspension will be visible beneath a transparent cover. Autocar says the car also will feature an adjustable rear wing, and an underbody diffuser will supply additional downforce.
