Lear Corp. and Canadian union Unifor have reached a second tentative contract for the supplier’s seating plant in Ajax, Ont.
Workers rejected a previous deal by a 94% margin on May 1. Lear promptly declared it would shut down the factory as soon as practical.
A Unifor official tells Automotive News the new offer was facilitated by a representative from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV, the factory’s only customer, who pushed both sides to reach an agreement.
Workers are scheduled to vote on the new proposal later today.
