Seating supplier Lear Corp. says it will open a new and larger regional headquarters in Shanghai, China, by early 2019. The project cost was not disclosed.

The 28,000-sq-meter (301,300 sq-ft) facility will house 800 employees, a product and technology center and advanced test facilities. The complex will be erected in Shanghai’s Yangpu District near the company’s current regional headquarters.

Lear says the new facility will support operations at 64 manufacturing sites in Asia that employ 31,000 people. The company’s business in China has expanded at an average 10% annually over the past three years.
