Latest Bimmer App: Watch Your Car on Your Phone

BMW AG plans to launch a new “Remote 3D View” technology in the 5 Series sedan.

The system enables owners to use a smartphone to view live video feeds from their parked vehicle. Combining images from several cameras on the car, the display creates a 360° surround view with a 3D top-down rendering of the vehicle.

BMW says the system will allow users to monitor a vehicle in real time. No other information was provided. The new 5 Series is expected to be unveiled next month at the Paris auto show.
