Exotic supercar maker Automobil Lamborghini SpA is seeing its market value soar because of the success of its popular and sedately designed Urus crossover vehicle.
Now the unit of Volkswagen AG is a viable candidate for an initial public offering with a market value of $11 billion, according to Bloomberg Intelligence.
The analytics unit previously estimated Lamborghini’s value at $9 billion. But it says next year’s debut of two new supercars—one of them a hybrid—will boost Lambo’s margins above 30% and bring it into line with Fiat Chrysler Automobile NV’s Ferrari NV affiliate.
VW Group launched an IPO for its Traton commercial truck unit in June. Bloomberg Intelligence considers a Lamborghini IPO a logical next step in the slow-moving restructuring review announced by VW nearly four years ago.
