Lambo Aventador SVJ New King of the ’Ring

Lamborghini SpA says its upcoming Aventador SVJ has set a new record for a production car at Germany’s famed Nurburgring-Nordschleife course with a time of just under six minutes and 45 seconds.
The run breaks the previous record by about two seconds. That was set by a Porsche 911 GT2 RS last September.
Marco Mapelli piloted a camouflaged version of the new Aventador supercar around the twisty 12.9-mile course. The vehicle was equipped with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, which will be an available option when the Aventador SVJ is launched later this year.
The car is powered by a 6.5-liter V-12 engine that is expected to produce 760 hp. Lamborghini says the SVJ will be the lightest Aventador ever and feature the ALA active aerodynamic system that was introduced last year on the all-wheel-drive Huracan supercar.
The Huracan held the ‘Ring production car record for a few months last year before it was eclipsed by the Porsche 911. Porsche’s 919 Evo hybrid-electric race car shattered the overall course record last month with a time of five minutes and 19 seconds.
