Kiekert Expands Michigan Operations

Germany’s Kiekert AG is moving production of its door latch modules from its existing facility in Wixom, Mich., to another plant that it has just opened in the city.

The new 41,000 sq-ft facility is expected to produce 1 million latch systems per year, nearly tripling Kiekert’s Michigan annual output in recent years. The company is adding 30 jobs at the new facility as part of the expansion.

Kiekert will continue to use the original Wixom facility as a research and development center. The company, which also has manufacturing operations in Mexico, says it supplies 25% of the automotive locking systems in North America.
