Kia Motors Corp. plans to introduce a low-priced sports car by the end of the decade, according to multiple media reports.

Paul Philpott, who heads the carmaker's U.K. arm, describes the all-new vehicle as an affordable global model that will help differentiate the brand from parent Hyundai Motor Co. Styling cues will be incorporated from the 2011 GT concept sedan and GT4 Stinger concept.

Kia briefly offered a Lotus Elan-based sports car in the mid-1990s. The company sold less than 1,000 of the vehicles mostly in South Korea before discontinuing it.
