New-car registrations in the U.K. slipped 1% to 255,800 vehicles last month compared with June 2015, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders reports.

The dip is only the third year-on-year decline in June sales in 16 years. SMMT says it’s too soon to tell whether the decline was due to the U.K.’s vote to exit the EU.

But the trade group acknowledges the British car market “undoubtedly cooled” in April-June. Sales through the first half of the year grew 3% to a record 1.42 million vehicles. Full-year deliveries in the U.K. totaled 2.66 million units in 2015.
