Jaguar Land Rover Ltd. has applied for a patent on a rear-window wiper system that triggers a swipe when the driver glances at the rearview mirror, London's Daily Mail reports.
The application notes that current systems make intermittent wipes at a preset pace. But drivers may not get a clear view if they glance at the rearview mirror between swipes. The JLR system ensures every glance is met with a freshly wiped rear window.
The technology appears to employ a driver monitoring system JLR co-developed with Intel and Seeing Machines and unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
