Jaguar Land Rover Ltd. is pondering what action to take about what one analyst describes as a "flagrant" copy of its popular Evoque SUV by Chinese carmaker Land Wind, the Financial Times reports.

Land Wind's new X7 SUV unveiled at the Guangzhou auto show this week bears the same swept-back profile as the Range Rover Evoque along with similar wheel arch trim and identical nameplate font.

Land Wind is a joint venture between Jiangling Motors and Changan Automobile. The X7 will sell for less than half the Evoque, which will soon be produced locally at JLR's new factory in Changshu.

"The fact that this kind of copying is going on in China is very disappointing," JLR CEO Ralf Speth tells Autocar, adding "It is not something that should happen."
