A British group plans to reintroduce the Jensen name on new retro-styled sport coupe and grand tourer models, both due next year, according to British media reports.
The cars are being developed by the Jensen Group, a startup headed by former Aston Martin co-owner Tim Hearley. The original Jensen Car Co. Ltd. went bankrupt in 2002.
The Jensen GT will be built to order and is likely to be priced at about 350,000 (€477,300) when it becomes available early next year, according to Autocar. The car will be produced by Jensen International Automotive, a British company that modifies vintage 1970s-era Jensen Interceptors.
JIA says the GT, which currently exists only as a clay model, will be powered by a General Motors Co.-supplied 6.4-liter supercharged V-8 engine that makes 665 hp and 630 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle will feature an aluminum, composite and steel chassis and body.
The company tells Autocar the all-new Jensen Interceptor 2, due late next year, will borrow styling cues from the original Interceptor.
