Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV’s Jeep unit is giving its tiny Renegade crossover a facelift and new engine for the 2019 model year.
The new turbocharged 1.3-liter, 4-cylinder engine generates 177 hp and 200 lb-feet of torque. By comparison, the outgoing 1.4-liter four-banger makes 160 hp and 184 lb-ft.
The 1.3-liter mill with automatic stop-start technology is standard on Limited and Trailhawk models and optional on the lower level Sport and Latitude. The base 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine continues unchanged.
Both engines are mated with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Last year’s optional 6-speed manual will no longer be available.
All-wheel drive and active grille shutters are new options. Several driver-assistance features have been added for 2019, including adaptive cruise control, parking assist and front parking sensors.
In addition to the new engine and tech features, the 2019 Renegade sports new front and rear fascias. An optional lighting package includes LED headlights, daytime running lights, fog lamps and taillights.
