Johnson Controls Inc. has named William Jackson, president of its automotive electronics and interiors unit, to the additional position of executive vice president of corporate development.
The new assignment will make Jackson responsible for diversifying JCI's portfolio and finding growth opportunities through mergers and acquisitions.
Jackson will report to Vice Chairman Alex Molinaroli, who will become JCI's CEO in October and chairman in January. The company currently generates half its revenue in the automotive sector, but Molinaroli wants to rebalance JCI across more industries.
Jackson joined the company two years ago from Booz & Co., where he helped JCI acquire Becker Group, York International and the auto battery business of Varta AG. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineer from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
