Japan's domestic passenger car output jumped 24% to 769,300 vehicles. Production of trucks and buses rose 2% to 113,600 units and 10,300 units, respectively.
Vehicle exports in June increased 7% to 431,000 units, include a 7% gain in passenger car exports to 374,600 units. The U.S. was the destination for 151,700 vehicles.
In the first half of this year, Japan's output surged 53% to 5.25 million vehicles. Production in the same period of 2011 was disrupted by the country's earthquake and tsunami in March.
Output of passenger cars soared 55% to 4.53 million units in the January-June period. Production climbed 42% to 658,200 trucks and 48% to 59,500 buses.
Exports in the first half jumped 35% to 2.49 million vehicles. Passenger vehicle shipments rose 34% to 2.19 million units.
