Tata Motors Ltd.'s Jaguar Cars unit plans to launch a recall in the U.S. next month to repair the fuel tanks in 4,200 XF sport sedans from the 2010-2012 model years.
The campaign involves cars equipped with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the fuel outlet flange on affected cars could crack and allow fuel to leak out.
Jaguar says it is not aware of any fires or injuries related to the defect. The company notes that a crack would probably cause the "check engine" lamp to illuminate on the instrument panel. Dealers will replace the flange with a redesigned part.
