Jaguar Land Rover Ltd. is dropping out of what it describes as a “massively shrinking” global market for wagons, says Jaguar design leader Ian Callum.
He tells reporters the world's largest market for wagons is Germany, where buyers opt primarily for domestic brand models from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. He notes that wagons are not popular in such major markets as China or the U.S.
But Callum points out the popularity of SUV/crossovers is strong virtually everywhere. He made the comment at an event in London for Jaguar’s new F-Pace luxury crossover. Jaguar’s only wagon currently in production is the XF-Sportbrake.
