Isuzu Motors Ltd. says it is considering business alliances with a number of automakers, including General Motors Co., but has not made a decision.

The company did not identify the number or identities of other candidates.

The Nikkei reported earlier this week that GM wants to revive its equity alliance with Isuzu by buying about 10% of the Japanese truckmaker. GM approached Isuzu, according to the newspaper, which cited no sources. It says the companies plan to begin talks within the next few weeks and reach an agreement this summer.

GM sold its 7.9% Isuzu stake in 2006 to raise cash, thus ending the 35-year partnership. Toyota Motor Corp. bought 5.9% of Isuzu later that year.
