Nissan Motor Co.’s Infiniti arm plans to discontinue the slow-selling QX30 crossover vehicle at the end of its lifecycle.
The tiny crossover, which is based on a Daimler platform that carries the Mercedes-Benz A-Class car and GLA crossover, has been a disappointment, president Christian Meunier concedes to Motor Authority. Sales of the QX30, which bowed in 2016, plunged nearly 43% from 2017 to 2018.
The replacement for the Q30 will ride on an “all-Infiniti” platform, Meunier says. The new model also could get a version of Nissan’s variable-compression engine technology that was launched last year in the QX50 midsize crossover.
