Hyundai Unveils High-End Concept Coupe
Hyundai Motor Co. says its new Vision G concept car reflects the design language for its next-generation premium models.
Hyundai Motor Co. says its new Vision G concept car reflects the design language for its next-generation premium models. The company took the wraps off the rear-wheel-drive coupe Tuesday night at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Styling cues include an elongated hood, high belt line, arched roof and a wide hexagonal grille with mesh inserts. Company officials describe the concept as "elegant but unpretentious."
The project was led by Hyundai's design center in Irvine, Calif., with input from the company's other global studios.
Power comes from Hyundai's 5.0-liter Tau V-8 that produces 420 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Other features include self-opening doors that are triggered when the driver approaches with the car's keyfob. The interior is outfitted with quilted leather seats, wood accents and brushed aluminum trim.
Media reports speculate that the concept could be the precursor to a more luxurious version of the 6-year-old Genesis coupe or provide the basis for Hyundai's long-rumored luxury sub-brand.
