Hyundai Motor Co. is preparing to call back 42,900 of its 2009-2011 model Genesis and 2011 Equus sedans to fix a flaw that could prevent the brake lights from illuminating when they should.
The company blames the problem on a diode in the stop lamp circuit that could fail. Newer models changed to a circuit design that uses a relay rather than diode.
Hyundai says it is still developing a remedy for the flaw. The company expects to begin recalling affected vehicles in the first quarter of 2015.
