Hyundai, Suzuki Led India’s Car Exports Last Year

Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki were India's top exporters of passenger vehicles in the fiscal year ended March 31, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.

SIAM says Hyundai exported 191,000 cars last year compared with 122,000 for Maruti Suzuki. Those volumes represented 31% and 9% of total sales, respectively.

Other top exporters last year were Nissan (120,000 units), Ford (82,000) and Volkswagen (65,000). All three companies exported more vehicles than they sold in India. Exports represented 72% of Nissan's total volume in 2014-2015, compared with 52% for Ford and 59% for VW, SIAM reports.
