Hyundai Revs Up New SEMA Concept

Hyundai Motor Co. is teaming up with Ontario, Calif.-based ARK Performance Inc. again on a new concept vehicle that will be unveiled in November at the annual Specialty Equipment Market Assn. show in Las Vegas.

Based on Hyundai's high-end Genesis coupe, the Solus Genesis concept features more aggressive styling and a heavily-modified version of the carmaker's Lambda 3.6-liter V-6 engine. which is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine has been enlarged to 4.0-liters and is fitted with a Rotrex supercharger and stronger components to handle the increased output, which is up about 40% to more than 500 hp.

A sketch of the concept vehicle shows large front air dams, a carbon fiber splitter, flared fenders and wide alloy wheels. Interior upgrades include a new steering wheel, lots of carbon fiber trim and a redesigned dashboard with an integrated multimedia screen.
