Hyundai Motor Co. is recalling 81,000 of its 2016 model Tucson SUVs to replace a secondary hood latch that may not work.
The latch is supposed to prevent the hood from opening when the vehicle is being driven, if the primary hood lock isn’t secure. Hyundai expects to begin the campaign in mid-July.
The recall is at least the third this year by carmakers to remedy balky secondary hood latches. In January Nissan expanded an earlier recall to cover 870,000 Altima sedans with malfunctioning latches. Subaru issued a callback in February to fix a similar problem in 77,000 Tribeca SUVs.
