Hyundai Motor Co. will introduce an all-electric variant of its tiny Kona crossover vehicle at next month’s Geneva auto show.

The Kona Electric will be available with two power and battery configurations, topping out at 150 kW and a 450-km (292-mile) driving range based on Europe’s WLTP test cycle. The vehicle also is expected to feature a host of advanced driver-assist systems.

Sales are due to start this summer in Europe and early next year in the U.S. Pricing is likely to start at just under $40,000 in the U.S.

The base Kona, which is named after Hawaii’s lava-lined coastal district, is powered by either a 1.0- or 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. A 1.6-liter diesel is being added this year in Europe.

The Kona Electric will be Hyundai’s second full EV, following the Ioniq sedan. Launched in 2016, the Ioniq is available in hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full-electric configurations. The EV accounted for just 5% of Ioniq’s total global sales last year.
