Hyundai Names New Chief for European Operations

Hyundai Motor Co. has appointed Hyung Cheong Kim as president and CEO of its European unit, effective immediately.

Kim, 55, is a 29-year veteran at Hyundai. He succeeds Byung Kwon Rhim, who is returning to South Korea as head of the company's international sales operation.

Last year Hyundai's sales across Europe advanced less than 1% to 424,500 vehicles, according to trade group ACEA. The company's sales in the region in January-March climbed 10% year on year to 119,900 units.
