Hyundai Motor Co. halted operations at its factory in Ulsan on Monday after the worst earthquake ever recorded in the South Korean peninsula struck the region, The Korea Herald reports.

Hyundai resumed operations midday Tuesday after conducting safety inspections. The company reports no serious damage to the complex or its production lines.

The newspaper says the 5.8 magnitude quake also temporarily disrupted cellphone case production at a Samsung factory in Gumi and several textile and chemical plants in the area.
