Honda Motor Co. plans to invest $857 million over three years to upgrade its car and engine complex in Alliston, Ont.
The US$2.3 billion facility also will partner with Ontario universities and colleges to become a "teaching plant" for all other Honda factories worldwide, according to the province. Ontario will provide a provisional grant worth as much as $86 million to support the program.
The Alliston two-plant complex has capacity to make 390,000 Honda Civic sedan and coupe and CR-V small crossover vehicles per year.
