Honda Motor Co. will take the wraps off the plug-in hybrid and all-electric variants of its Clarity midsize sedan next month at the New York auto show.
The two new models, which will be launched later this year in the U.S., are expected to closely resemble the five-seat Clarity fuel cell car. That vehicle debuted last year in California.
Honda says the Clarity plug-in hybrid will be able to drive more than 40 miles on electric power alone. The vehicle will be sold throughout the U.S.
A report last month indicated the Clarity EV will have a relatively modest 80-mile driving range. By comparison, General Motors’ new Chevrolet Bolt has a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency rating of 238 miles.
