The redesigned Jazz minicar Honda Motor Co. will debut at the Paris auto show in October will feature a longer, sleeker and zoomier looking exterior.

Honda released photos of the preproduction five-door hatch. The car will go on sale next summer.

The third-generation Jazz offers a more dramatic front end with narrow sweptback headlamps, more prominent grille, large faux air intakes below the bumper line and a racy roof-mounted rear wing.

The car sports a new suspension architecture and a thriftier 1.3-liter gasoline engine with 6-speed manual or continuously variable transmission.

The Jazz, whose wheelbase has been lengthened 30 mm, will ride on the same chassis that carries the larger Civic sedan. The same platform will be used by the HR-V small crossover vehicle Honda also will introduce at the Paris auto show in two weeks.
