Honda Renames India Unit
Honda Motor Co. has changed the name of its auto unit in India to Honda Cars India Ltd. after ending its 16-year joint venture with Siel Ltd.
Honda Motor Co. has changed the name of its auto unit in India to Honda Cars India Ltd. after ending its 16-year joint venture with Siel Ltd.
The venture's name was Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. Siel's parent, Usha International Ltd., sold its 3.2% stake in the company to Honda last month for 1.8 billion rupees ($32 million).
Honda Cars makes the Accord sedan, Civic compact and Brio, City and Jazz subcompacts at its factory in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. The company also has a stamping and powertrain plant in Rajasthan. Honda imports the CR-V compact crossover vehicle from Japan.
