Honda Motor Co. is recalling 50,200 Civic compact cars in the U.S. to replace a driveshaft to the left front wheel that could come loose, causing a loss of power and allowing the car to roll even when the gearshift is in Park.

The campaign involves two- and four-door models produced between November 2011 and mid-January 2012.

Honda says the driveshaft was not fully pressed into the wheel's constant velocity joint. As a result, a retaining clip that locks it in place was not set. Honda says no crashes or injuries have been reported that relate to the defect.
