Honda Motor Co. is recalling 694,000 of its 2011-2016 model Odyssey minivans in the U.S. and Canada to fix second-row seats that may not lock in place.
Almost all the repairs will involve a tilt mechanism that allows the seats to be folded and slid forward to improve access to the third row. The mechanism may fail to lock the seats back in their upright position after they are slid back, thereby creating a safety hazard for their occupants.
Honda also is recalling 7,500 of its 2016 model Odysseys to adjust a separate latch mechanism for second-row seats that may fail to lock them in their tracks after a fore-or-aft adjustment. Dealers have been ordered not to sell affected models until they are inspected or repaired.
The company reports no crashes or injuries for either defect. Honda says owners can manually lock the tilt mechanism by pushing down on the “horizontal positon adjustment bar.”
