India currently contributes 23% of Honda’s sales in Asia Pacific. The company’s sales in India grew 8% to 170,000 units in the last fiscal year. The company assembles cars at two factories in the country and sells them through 353 outlets across India.
The first of the new Honda models will be an update to the small Amaze sedan introduced five years ago. That model will be followed by the CR-V small SUV and the 10th generation Civic sedan.
Honda also is testing the Indian market for electrified vehicles with a hybrid version of its Accord sedan imported from Thailand. The company plans to add more hybrid models until India’s market for all-electric vehicles develops.
