Honda introduced the Accord, its most popular model in America, in the European market 37 years ago. It supplied the car from a plant in the U.K. between 1992 and 2000 before shifting production back to Japan.
Last year Honda sold 133,300 vehicles in Europe, according to industry group ACEA. But demand for Accords sagged 19% to 3,500 units. ANE says the model has struggled to compete with premium models such as the 3 Series from BMW and C-Class from Mercedes-Benz.
