Honda Motor Co. is recalling more than 321,500 vehicles worldwide to repair malfunctioning front door latches . The campaign, which will begin next month, includes 172,800 vehicles in the U.S. and 21,700 in Canada.
The recall covers 2012 model year Honda CR-V compact crossover vehicles and 2013 model year Acura ILX compact sedans. Those models were redesigned in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
Honda says the problem occurs if the inside door handle is used at the same time the door lock is applied. Under those circumstances, the latch may not secure the door. Or it may latch the door but unlatch it when the door lock is used.
