Honda Motor Co. is investigating a fatal car crash involving a 2002 model Accord sedan that had been recalled to replace a Takata Corp. airbag inflator that could explode when triggered, Bloomberg News reports.
The crash earlier this month in Houston, Tex., killed 35-year-old Carlos Solis. A lawsuit filed on Tuesday by the man's family says he was fatally injured in a "relatively minor" crash when metal shards from the inflator cut his neck.
In 2011 Honda recalled the car Solis was driving to replace the driver-side airbag. But the vehicle, which he bought used last April, had not been repaired by the dealer.
