Honda Motor Co. is recalling all hybrid versions of its 2014 Fit small car and Vezel small crossover made since July 2013. The company says a transmission software problem could prevent the vehicles from moving.
The campaign is the third since October to fix defective software that controls the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission used in both models. Each recall addresses a different problem, any of which can delay or prevent the ability of the car to be driven.
Honda has halted deliveries of all affected models and quarantined vehicles at dealerships pending the necessary reprogramming. The company says it will update the faulty software and may replace gears within affected transmissions in cars already in customers' hands.
Honda hasn't indicate how many units are included. The targeted vehicles were built at Honda factories in Saitama and Suzuka.
