Honda Motor Co. will take the wraps off its Urban EV concept model next month at the Frankfurt auto show.
The concept will preview the electric vehicle Honda plans to launch next year. That model, which will target European markets, is expected to be a small city car.
Honda previously said it will launch two dedicated EVs next year. The second model will be sold in China.
Honda created an Electric Vehicle Development Div. last year and set an ambitious goal of deriving two-thirds of its sales from EVs by 2025. Last month the company finalized a joint venture with Hitachi Automotive Systems Ltd. to develop and produce electric motors.
