Honda Motor Co. is phasing out its slow-selling Crosstour crossover vehicle at the end of the current model year.

The fastback wagon/hatchback Accord sedan variant is made in East Liberty, Ohio, which also produces Honda's popular Honda CR-V crossover and Acura RDX crossovers. The facility will add the Acura MDX midsize crossover.

The Crosstour debuted in 2010 with first-year sales of 28,900 units. But demand for the oddly proportioned vehicle faded to only 11,800 units last year. Volume in the first three months of 2015 fell 38% to 2,000 units, according to Autodata Corp.

Separately, Honda says it will move production of Accord hybrids at the end of the 2015 model year from Marysville, Ohio, to its factory in Sayama, Japan. The Marysville facility makes conventionally powered Accords and Acura TLX and ILX performance sedans.
