Honda Motor Co. is preparing to recall 303,900 of its 2008-2009 model Accord sedans in the U.S. whose side airbags can be triggered by slamming a door. The campaign will begin in December.
Dealers will make a software adjustment to reduce the sensitivity of the system to non-crash impacts. Honda is aware of 19 injuries related to the defect.
The side airbag repairs are unrelated to Honda’s separate recall of some 20 million vehicles to replace Takata Corp. frontal airbag inflators that could explode when triggered by a crash.
