Honda Motor Co. is spending $85 million at its plant in East Liberty, Ohio, to prepare the facility to make the Acura MDX crossover in 2017.
The expansion will give Honda a second source for the three-row MDX, which it currently produces exclusively in Lincoln, Ala.
The East Liberty factory currently builds the Acura RDX and Honda CR-V crossovers and Crosstour tall wagon. Honda says it expects its sales through the next few years will be driven primarily by demand for its crossovers, SUVs and trucks.
