Hitachi-Honda Venture to Make EV Motors in China

A joint venture set up in July between Hitachi Automotive Systems Ltd. and Honda Motor Co. is building a facility in Guangdong, China, to develop and produce motors for electric vehicles.
The venture, Hitachi Automotive Electric Motor Systems Ltd., was created to make EV motors in Japan. The company plans to add production in China during the fiscal year that begins in April 2020, The Nikkei reports.
Plans for the joint venture, which is 51% owned by Hitachi Automotive Systems, were announced in February. The partners have not revealed the capacity of the China factory or indicated what companies it will supply.
