BMW AG has built three one-quarter-scale Mini cars to shuttle javelins, discuses, hammers and shot back to the throwing area at the Olympic field competitions in London.

The 55-lb radio-controlled EVs feature functioning headlights, a 10-hp traction motor, removable sunroof panel and waterproof interior equipment cargo area.

Each car is 3.6 feet long, 1.6 feet wide and 1.3 feet tall. They are equipped with vented disc brakes, heavy-duty dampers and grass-tread tires.

BMW says the mini Mini can tote an 18-lb cargo for 35 minutes per charge. The company estimates each vehicle will cover more than seven miles over 18 days of Olympic and Paralympic competition.
