Houston-based Hennessey Performance Engineering is offering an upgrade kit that can boost the output of a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS to 1,000 hp and 887 lb-ft of torque.
The stock model’s 6.2-liter V-8 engine generates 455 hp and a like amount of torque. Hennessey’s $65,000 package, which doesn’t include the cost of the vehicle, expands the engine to 6.8 liters and adds a supercharger.
Other modifications include forged aluminum pistons attached to billet connecting rods, ported cylinder heads, heavy-duty valve springs, an upgraded cooling unit and a throatier exhaust system.
Hennessey also offers a non-supercharged kit that boosts output to 650 hp.
The modifications can be made to the stock SS equipped with either a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic. Visual changes are limited to Hennessey badging, unique floor mats and a numbered dashboard plaque signed by owner John Hennessey.
