China’s Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. is returning to the 2017 Detroit auto show in January with a display on the main floor.
China’s Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. is returning to the 2017 Detroit auto show in January with a display on the main floor.
The state-owned company presented several concept cars outside the show in 2013. Two years later it returned to unveil the GS4 small sporty crossover and the Witstar, a self-driving crossover concept with gullwing doors and futuristic interior.
GAC hopes to begin selling vehicles in the U.S. a few years from now with help from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV dealers. GAC and FCA currently produce the Fiat Viaggio small sedan, Fiat Ottima small hatchback and Jeep Cherokee and Renegade SUVs in China.
GAC also makes vehicles in China through joint ventures with Honda and Toyota.
