GM blames the decline on a 32% surge in December sales that drained dealer inventories at year-end.
The company posted record sales of 3.5 million units, up 12%, in China last year. All its American brands reported new highs in volume.
January sales of domestic-brand mini-vehicles by SAIC-GM-Wuling advanced 4%. But demand last month fell 2% for Chevrolet, 10% for Buick and 11% for Cadillac, according to ANE.
