GM’s Global Sales Shrank 3% in Third Quarter

GM gains in North America (+5% to 930,800 units) and Europe (+1% to 287,700) were offset by shrinkage in South America (-31% to 150,100), China (-4% to 33,900) and other overseas markets (-10% to 191,800).
The company’s global sales through the first nine months of 2015 slipped 1% to 7.15 million units.
By brand, demand in the first three quarters dropped for Chevrolet (-7% to 3.3 million vehicles). It rose for Opel/Vauxhall (+4% to 864,300), Buick (+3% to 852,300), GMC (+11% to 499,300) and Cadillac (+3% to 199,000).
In China, sales from January through September for the domestic Wuling and Baojun brands fell 9% to 1.1 million units and surged 236% to 270,500, respectively.
