The Canyon received 2,509 points across 18 categories that were assessed during a week-long testing process. The truck was praised for its all-around capabilities—including off-road driving—interior appointments, payload and towing capacity. Judges also pointed out that the Canyon was the only one of the 4x4 vehicles tested to have a separate all-wheel-drive setting.
The 2017 Honda Ridgeline finished second with a score of 2,490. It posted the best zero-to-60 mph acceleration time, fuel efficiency, torque rating and gross vehicle weight capacity.
The remaining three pickups included the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado (2,462 points), 2016 Toyota Tacoma (2,390) and 2016 Nissan Frontier (2,307). Full results are available here.
